✦ The Spark
Cows have best friends — and they get really sad when they are apart.
The Story
Cows are not just big animals that stand in fields. They are actually very kind and caring. They make best friends with other cows, and those friendships last for years and years.
Scientists watched cows very carefully and found something amazing. When a cow was near her best friend, her heart beat slowly and calmly. But when the two best friends were separated and put in different fields, both cows got very stressed. Their hearts beat faster and they made lots of unhappy sounds.
Cows also look after each other. They take turns watching for danger while the others eat. And when a cow is scared, her best friend will come and stand next to her to make her feel better — just like a good friend would do for you.
